Deltona is located in Volusia County, Florida and has a population of 82,788 as of 2006. Deltona is a diverse city with citizens that come together to care for their community. Deltona’s official flower is the Red Ruffle Azalea and the official bird is the Florida Scrub Jay.

Deltona History

Florida became a state in 1845 and steamboats began to make regular trips up the St. Johns River to Lake Monroe. This brought many visitors and new residents, and a community began on the shores of Lake Monroe at the steamboat landing. The town became known as Enterprise.

In 1962 the Mackle Brothers brought 17,203 acres of land in Volusia County and planned development for a community and named the area Deltona. The first people came to reside there in April of 1963. By 1970, Deltona had 4,868 residents. The community was officially incorporated in September 1995.

Deltona Parks and Recreation

Deltona’s parks offer many activities for community members and visitors. Deltona’s parks encompass over 112 acres of land. The city offers summer youth programs, youth sports for boys and girls, adult sports, middle school field trips, senior citizen programs, adult day trips, instructional activity classes, after school programs, and more.

Deltona Festival Park
Festival Park is situated on the Lake Butler chain of lakes and is home to many birthday celebrations, small community events and is regularly visited by child care centers. Numerous huge oak trees, green grass and a fun playground make this park special to anyone with younger children.

The Festival Park is situated on 115 acres and contains:
• Acres of undeveloped land for investigative walks
• Pavilion (Large Covered)
• Picnic Area
• Playground (Ages 6 to 12 years old)
• Grills
• Restrooms
• Boardwalk out onto the lake

Dewey O. Boster Park
The property was county-owned and the baseball facility completely constructed due to parents, volunteers and community partners efforts.
Dewey O. Boster Park is situated on 12 acres and contains:
• Youth Baseball Fields (3)
• Horseshoe Courts
• Pavilion (rentable)
• Playground (3 to 8 year olds)
• Nature Trail (Leads back to Sports Complex)
• Picnic Areas
• Restrooms
• Skate Pad (Small skateboard practice area)
• The walking trail connects to the much larger walking/jogging trail surrounding the Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex. It's a great place to exercise your dog as you wallk

Keysville Dog Park
Keysville Dog Park, home of the annual "Wags & Whiskers Pet Festival," is situated on 14 acres and contains:
• 2 separate fenced areas for large and small dogs
• Fenced doggie watering stations
• Benches & picnic tables inside fences
• Restrooms
• Pavilions (3) 2 within fenced area
• Playground
• Walking trail
• Basketball Court

Deltona Attractions

Deltona Club
The Deltona Club re-opened in January of 2008 after a complete renovation under the direction of golf architect Bobby Weed. He re-grassed tees, fairways and all 18 greens, and lengthened the course, which is now over 7,000 yards from the "permission only" back tees. Weed planted more than 250 trees, installed a new irrigation system and drew up plans to move and expand the driving range. The Deltona Club was formally known as the Deltona Golf and Country Club.
